The power you wield by ordering one single book is staggering! As a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to bringing exciting and vibrant voices to print, we survive only with the support of donors, grants and book sales. Book sales and the literature those sales represent are, in fact, endangered. It is in this arena that we ask for your help. And don't worry, it won't cost you much, it's easy as can be, and you receive a beautiful Tupelo Press book!

Why order a single book directly from the Tupelo Press website?

• Because: if you order just one book from our website at list price (plus postage), Tupelo benefits and you benefit! We log in a genuine full sale, you get a wonderful new book to savor. When you buy one of our books from a bookstore or from Amazon we receive only about 35 cents after deducting for bookstore discounts (50%), distributor’s fee (30% of what’s left), plus the substantial cost of making our beautiful books. We can’t run even a lean non-profit on that. But buy directly from our website, the net to Tupelo after costs is about $11.00. The difference to us is monumental. (Of course, you could just send us an $11.00 donation – it would be a little cheaper for you and provide us with the same result, but then you wouldn’t have a beautiful new book!)

• Because: if even half of the book lovers on our subscriber list buy just one book directly from our website, we can make our budget for the coming year. That would make history!! We can book more readings for our authors, and tell more people about the wonders of poetry. We can replace an aging computer (pedestrian, we know, but oh so necessary).

• Because: if everybody on our list of friends and subscribers gathers together and supports this book-buying campaign, we can afford to publish more of the amazing writers whose voices are so essential in reminding us of our humanity and our kinship.
